SWANSEA West Tories have chosen a recently retired Army officer as their candidate to contest the Assembly election in May.

Steve Jenkins lives in Uplands with his wife Helen, and retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2009.

He said: "My military career has thrown me into situations where I have had to work hard to achieve mutual respect and gain support across social, political and cultural divides.

"And it is in part because of that, that I think I may offer the people of Swansea West something different," he added.
